  2. From the same week

    Your assessment

Questions before you book

If your question is not here, call us and we will talk it through.

Do I need a GP referral?

No. You can book directly with us. With your consent, we send your report to your GP once your assessment is complete.

How quickly can I be seen?

Your first appointment is available the same week you contact us, and from booking to diagnosis typically takes 20 working days. NHS memory assessment services are free to use; the median NHS wait from referral to diagnosis in England, Wales and Jersey was 137 days in 2025.1

What is a cognitive assessment?

A cognitive assessment uses questions and short tasks to look at memory, attention, language and other thinking skills. In our assessment, a mental health nurse carries out this cognitive examination as one part of a full assessment, alongside a blood test, a brain scan and a heart rhythm monitor.

Can the assessment be done at home?

Most of it. Your appointments can take place by video, and your blood sample is taken at your chosen address. Brain scans take place at one of over 200 scan centres across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Can I use a private diagnosis with the NHS?

Yes. With your consent, we send your report, diagnosis and care plan to your GP, so your care can continue through the NHS or privately.

What if my parent is reluctant to be assessed?

Many families ask this. Call us first and we will explain what the assessment involves, so you can talk it through together before you book.
